Dry Fly Media

We’ve been meaning to throw a thank you post up on here on Chi Wulff for a few days now. As part of the team (Dry Fly Media is the publisher) working on Swing the Fly magazine, we’ve been humbled and frankly almost stunned by the response to Swing the Fly’s second issue which dropped […]

Last week, Mark and I had an opportunity to watch and film Zack Williams, editor of Swing the Fly, in Gig Harbor’s Skansie Brothers Park.  The film is for an upcoming project we are all pretty excited about.  More details on that later.  We apparently caused quite a stir in Gig Harbor, as the baristas […]

We’ve been pummeled with emails over the past couple of days with offers for drivers, mechanics, spiritual advisors, camera operators, etc. after chatting about The Drive a few days ago. As we begin to get a bit more serious about our planning (actually looking at maps and writing down a note or two) we’re coming […]

We’ve been working on this one for a few months now; things are beginning to come together. The challenge: A few of us here at Chi Wulff own a vintage 1983 CJ7 sitting in Bozeman. We need to move it down to Texas for a frame off rebuild. The jeep runs well enough, though the […]

Our hosting provider has apparently been plagued by a couple of days worth of humongous denial of service attacks. Please pardon our downtime today. Burgeoning traffic demand on some other business sites that we host may push deployment of a dedicated server sooner than we’d planned on.  We’re working on it.

Though somewhat ironically born and raised in the near waterless Texas panhandle, I’ve been fascinated with water, particularly moving water in freestone creeks and rivers, for as long as I can remember. From the perspective of beautiful freestone rivers and creeks, living in Bozeman can make one think you’re the proverbial kid in a candy […]

River Ghosts

Skunked. From a fish catching point of view the outing was a bust. Looking for big bass among the weed beds called for 8 weights pushing big flies in the wind, and the water was off to boot. Heave, strip, strip, strip, strip, heave. From a fly fishing point of view it felt sweet to […]

It’s finally come time to tip our hats and ride off into the Montana sunset. (That pic is a genuine Montana sunset taken last summer from ‘West Bozeman’….) This will be the final post here on Chi Wulff. We’d like to thank all of those who have followed the blog over the years – this […]

As distracting and distasteful as it may seem on some days – there are indeed bills to pay, shelter and food to purchase, vehicles to fuel, and clothes to buy – though you probably could wear waders around town here in Bozeman year-round and nobody would fire you a second look.  Several ‘real world’ projects […]

Scouting small streams in the neighborhood yesterday (for fishing and a Dry Fly Media feature we’re working on this season) yielded some great water potentials and views last night.  We spent most of the evening in the Hyalite and Cottonwood drainages – more to come.

Some of us who labor tirelessly from our cramped, dank and dark back offices to author Chi Wulff are also involved with a fly fishing and river related media company – Dry Fly Media.  (Hasty note to self – maybe that title is not the right way to say what I’m trying to say.   When […]
