Today over on the Older Bolder Life I’ve posted a nifty recipe for this Greek Chicken Breast Sauté, a recipe we gathered from a chef in Santa Fe (believe it or not, and yep, it’s kinda out of the typical Santa Fe recipe genre) and have been enjoying at home and in camp for more than two decades now.

Quick, easy as pie, and damned tasty once again, this one will be a great one to add to your fall rotation.

Cheers.

During a very interesting conversation with a fly fishing and hunting publishing guy this past week (at his request, nameless here), an interesting tangent came up in which he asked me what I thought was the most influential non-professional fly fishing piece written in American magazine literature during the past decade – influential in terms of casting fly fishing in an interesting enough light to effectively engage more prospective fishers who otherwise might not have been interested.

I hemmed and hawed and finally asked what he thought were several of the best pieces – he responded with a link to this article from Garden and Gun back in 2014 – Fly Fishing’s All Star Cast. Would have been one hell of a weekend, and is still a great read.

An interesting read posted over on Angling Trade yesterday – Rivergeddon 2020 – reviewing the good and bad of the COVID induced fly fishing boom, and calling for “someone” to step up and lead the sport and industry down the “right” path…

The Streak {a Montana fly fishing tale…} from PMD Productions on Vimeo.

Rent the vid on Vimeo, from the posting there –

<< As opposites have a way of attracting under the governing laws of physics, Kris McLean and Rick Branzell have been best friends for over 30 years. And for over 19 of those winters, springs, summers, and falls, they have caught a trout from a boat, on a fly, from the main stem of the Bitterroot River in Western Montana every single month of the year. This pursuit, which started out mostly by accident, has come to be known as, The Streak, and we made a film about it. >>

Ethan, one of Jake’s buds back home in Montana, along with Ethan’s new wife Molly, have become damn good at prospecting for agates in the Yellowstone and several other very productive drainages which shall remain un-named; here’s a recent vid detailing some of the fun one can have treasure hunting along key waterways under the Big Sky.

Another interesting bear defense read for your Monday; worth a spin if you’re roaming backcountry in the Northern Rockies this time of year.

Is it interesting what a bit of persistence and a few well placed FIOA filings can dig up…

Talking with a buddy last week the topic of the Western Native Trout challenge came up; after digging around a bit I found a nifty article that Orvis posted last year about the first guy to complete the advanced level of the challenge – read it here.

The challenge sounds bucket list worthy to me, and 2021 just might be the year.
