A hearty Monday attaboy to Orvis for their ongoing work and matching donations to the Everglades Foundation – details and donation link here.
For those of us around the nation who truly appreciate – and use – the public lands that have been set aside for our enjoyment, the advent of GPS and sophisticated mapping has made it much easier to find public land parcels from a mapping perspective. Accessing many of these parcels on the other hand is often an impossible challenge…
Amazingly, there are over 16 million acres of public land landlocked by surrounding private land across the country; find more about the issue here, and join the fight to access these landlocked parcels in your neighborhood.

Garden and Gun scored big time a few weeks ago with this recipe from genius chef Vivian Howard; she describes it “as this little number is like chimichurri and salsa verde had a baby in a bed of olives. LGD is condiment, ingredient, texture, acid, herb, oil, and salt all at once.”
This one is very likely the most interesting condiment / sauce / dressing we’ve put together in the kitchen in a very long time. Damn, this one’s good.

Enjoy.
On Monday Loon Outdoors posted a nice update on their blog about the Salmon Superhighway – read it here.
And here’s more detail on the Salmon Superhighway site.
Not all water battles in the West are over flows and usage on the big name rivers you read about online and in the mags; some of the most critical tussles over water and watershed use occur on much smaller waters, almost all of which are critical lifelines for the bigger waterways and the various critters therein.
The Missoulian recently ran a nifty piece covering just such an issue – Trout Unlimited fights for water in Paradise Valley to help Yellowstone cutthroats. Brett French hits another home run with this one…

By all means if you haven’t voted, get out there and get it done (though interestingly every single person we tend to run with for work and play voted early this year); for those who have – here’s Garden and Gun’s Good Dog 2020 winners.
These may be the most intelligent faces you run across today…
