It’s a rewind of Zoom call, and you’ll need to do a bit of sifting for the best information, but damn, this does look fun…

BTT posted a nice piece last week detailing why we should simple say hell no to allowing aquaculture in the Gulf of Mexico. Read it at the link, and I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this story in days to come.

The new recreation plan rules for Montana’s Madison River were published last week; the summary above was cut from Blue Ribbon Flies’ newsletter, who obtained the succinct summary from FOAM.
Given all that’s happening in the non-fly fishing world of late, the announcement didn’t garner as much reaction as those who have been following the story might have expected, at least thus far.
Here’s a representative article from the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, typical of coverage from Montana-based news outlets, and here’s a more interesting read on the issues from Ennis guide Randy Brown.
And once again, at least as of yesterday morning, not a single word on the issue from the Madison River Foundation (website and social media), the organization ostensibly chartered to preserve and protect the river. Impressive.
More to come on the story…

Today over on the Older Bolder Life I’ve posted a damned nifty recipe for a long time family Thanksgiving favorite – a Texas Style Recado Turkey.
For years we always had one of these spicy beauties on the table at the holidays (often along with a more traditional roasted bird as well), then I lost the damn recipe in a move (it was in an edition of the now defunct Chile magazine) and we haven’t been able to reproduce that same flavor until now.
More pics, the long story, and the recipe at the link.
Cheers.
The USGS has just published a multi-year, multi-center study covering ungulate migrations in the West; the map above is from the report and graphs YNP bison in and around the Park.
Details and the full report at the link; image from page 108 of the report.
Don’t miss this nice piece from the Missoulian about a nifty project the Clark Fork Coalition helped pull together to save an insane number of fish (up to 10K/year) lost annually in the Lolo-Maclay Diversion Ditch.
Attaboy.
