Damn!

I love it when a plan comes together. I love it when a plan comes together.   Why is it that it so rarely happens? I’m sitting in a hotel room in Castle Rock, Colorado after a 14+ hour, sometimes snow-laced drive here yesterday. Jess of Fire Girl Photography and I are up here on a […]

The Swedish Bikini Snowsledding team is training in West Yellowstone this year.

Don Meredith (seen here with fly fishing fiend Curt Gowdy) of Dallas Cowboy and sports broadcasting fame passed away yesterday in New Mexico. We all knew Gowdy fly fished, but so did Don Meredith – Jack Dennis says he taught him.

Dr. Dumbass

Last night at the fly shop, I had the (dis)pleasure of meeting one of the self proclaimed experts on trout fishing in the world.  In order to maintain his true identity I’ll just call him Dr. Dumbass. Dr. Dumbass had several amazing revelations to share with me.  First off:  there are no trout over 18 […]

No matter where I went yesterday I either imagined I was on the Madison (to make it even more painful that pic was shot between the lakes a few weeks ago) or scouting the pools at Snowflake Springs. Damn.

Damn, missing the season already. It was -7 in Bozeman this morning with some cold weather due for the weekend and next week.  Ouch.

Mark and I just got back from another delightful afternoon on the Gallatin.  We took his advice and decided to risk fishing on Mother’s Day.  After some deliberation about destination, as there usually is, the Gallatin Canyon won out over other choices.  Neither one of us had been up there in the past few weeks […]

As part of our team’s continuing drive to make our site more useful, we’ve determined to add another feature – sort of a ‘Dear Abby’-like advice column for fly fishermen.  The following email is a perfect example of why this is needed – Dear Team Chi Wulff – I’m a novice but improving fly fisherman […]

Couldn’t resist throwing this up.

From the Bozeman Daily Chronicle Police Blotter…. A woman driving a Honda Pilot hit a moose near the 50 mile marker on U.S. Highway 191. No injuries were reported, except for the moose. In memory of our friend the moose, share some Moose Drool with a friend today.

Extended family and fly fishing.  For many hard-core fly fisher folk, simply reading or hearing those words – fishing with extended family – sends chills down their spines, blurs their collective vision, wobbles their knees, pops beads of sweat from their foreheads like tiny riverside springs, and induces ominous rumblings in their guts.  Holidays, like […]

Though there’s lots of snow still hanging around in the shadows around town, today’s bright sunshine and 65 degree temp. makes it truly feel like spring might truly become a reality in the next few weeks.    Yeah, I know we’ll still have a snow or two (or more) here in town before it’s all said and […]
