When a reasonably well read, and well traveled, fly fisher hears the word Yellowstone, I’d bet you dollars to donuts they immediately conjure up images of the Firehole, the Gibbon, the waters of the Northeast Corner, maybe even the upper Gallatin along 191 north of West Yellowstone.
I sure as hell do, though as I take my mental tour of Yellowstone, I’ll somehow always spend part of that trip in the Hayden Valley along the Yellowstone River; it’s always been one of my favorite areas in the Park, even on bright summer days like the one above.
The Missoulian published last week one of the recent Caldera Chronicles focused on the Hayden Valley and it’s worth a quick read for those missing Yellowstone like I am this morning…
