Here’s another interesting read from Texas Monthly’s currently running Great Texas Water Safari Series – How Fishing in Texas Got So Good – and Kinda Weird. Being one from birth, I can say this will due authority and earned objectivity, Texans have a very strange view toward public lands, access, and what it actually means to hunt and fish animals in the wild (the critical feature of the story here of course being there’s very, very little actual wild in Texas, save for the fishing you’ll find along the coast, which is greatly under-appreciated by those of us wielding fly rods).
