An absolutely unexpected business essential popped up last week requiring a quick trip to the Pacific Northwest; it became evident pretty damned quickly that putting flights together to make it work, coupled with some of the rather insane restrictions imposed by a few key states and localities, was nigh on impossible. What followed was a roughly 4400-mile mad dash in five days, with a few big, classic Western vistas easing the road burn that followed.
And yep, there were more fishers on the Bighorn in the Wind River Canyon (boats and on foot) than I’ve ever seen; these guys to the right were enjoying a high sun lunch break in the warming sun.
There are some advantages to having had plowed through a COVID-19 infection now almost two months ago; as expected meals were those I’d brought along in the cooler. Fuel was easy to find, lodging not so much so.
Caveat emptor out there my friends.
