Two perspectives on how the fly fishing biz might operate from this point forward; from a recent article on Angling Trade (their image from the linked article above) – K Deeter opines as to some opines and offers some suggestions from an authority who happens to fly fish as well, Eric J. Esswein, CEO of Emeritus Health and Safety.
And from the Jackson Hole News and Guide (their image from the linked article below) – Angling industry stuck in ‘holding pattern’ with pandemic regulations, restrictions – highlighting perspectives from some of our angling friends in Wyoming (which has suspended sale of 5-day out of state licenses for a time).
While we more than ever support and stand by our guide friends in the industry, these strange days in which we find ourselves underscore the absolute need for fly fishers of all stripes to be able to run their own day on the water, and not solely depend on the services of a worthy guide to engage with the fly fishing world. I remain astounded at the number of Texicans (no offense, Texas) who couldn’t fish an hour on any water without a guide shepherding every step and cast. Hone those skills, learn your neighborhood waters, and get out there.
