Will Flood Protections (Read Dam) Impact Chehalis Salmon Restoration?
Most likely, read a piece in Crosscut here covering the issue, including a fairly detailed look at restoration efforts undertaken thus far. The $600+ million dam (some project with typical overruns it’ll reach close to $1 billion) proposed for flood protection on the Chehalis, which has flooded 18 of the last 20 years per the article, would of course significantly impact salmon runs and their spawn. This will be an interesting story to follow…
