Remembering TR: Conservation as a National Duty

In the run-up to remembering the anniversary of TR’s birthday this past Sunday the 27th, groups far and wide invoked memory of TR’s powerful conservation legacy.

A great example is this article from the Smithsonian (that’s their image above) which (appropriately by the way) praises TR for indeed almost forcing a change in the way our developing nation viewed the natural world.

It’s even more interesting to read the actual speech, which you can find here (site image below) unfiltered through a journalist’s interpretive lens, and gain the full impact of TR’s intent – conservation is indeed a national duty.
