OPB recently published a very nice feature covering the ongoing use of classic wooden McKenzie drifters on the rocky Rogue – read it here.
Having built three and owned two of these fine boats over the years, I’m biased as hell, but I’d still argue to the bitter end that nothing rows like one of these wooden drifters. Mine were both wide-bottomed, 17.5-footers that drew roughly three inches with three on board, tracked superbly with their hard chines, and were beauties to behold.
