The day after any major holiday is a great day (actually, any day is a great day) to get outside and kick around your neighborhood water, whether that be a crick, creek, river, bay, bayou, sea, or ocean. Some of the most uncrowded days for me in the past few years have been cold winter days post holiday in Montana. Some of our favorite waters, in these pics the Madison and Upper Gallatin, take on an entirely different persona in winter, and the water and ice can be strikingly beautiful.
For those in the northern climes, bundle up, grab the nymphing gear and an easy to manage camera (cold fingers), and get out there.
