On a recent run back home to Montana, Mary Ellen and I were shopping with Jess in an nifty food market in Missoula, the Good Food Store, and ran across a guy setting out a fresh box of Montana Coffee Traders Organic Montana Blend coffee beans (one of our two favorites of theirs from long ago).
We’ve been drinking these all week (both iced and fresh ground/brewed), and remembering why we’ve been fans of Montana Coffee Traders now for over a decade since discovering them during our years running the horse barn north of Kalispell.
Montana Coffee Traders are based in the metropolis of Columbia Falls, western gateway to Glacier NP on the banks of the Mainstem of the Flathead River, and were about a 15 minute drive from the barn and house. There were many a summer day when we’d be doing morning chores after a 530ish AM sunrise, thinking of a hot breakfast and a big cup of the MCT brew of the day, then load the crew and dash up to their diner for breakfast before “the crowd” got there.
Local roasters always do coffee better, and you’re almost always guaranteed the freshest beans and coffee in the game with just a bit of care in buying.
Raise a steaming, perfectly-brewed cup this morning with us as we toast Montana Coffee Traders and all the other small-batch, custom coffee roasters perfecting their craft out there today.
