Fall, Winter, and Spring Climate Predictions 2018-19

Now that we’re officially in the fall season, it’s time to take another look at what the climate prediction gurus are forecasting for the next several quarters, as late fall, winter, and early spring are (particularly the latter two) are when  sustaining snowpacks are built to feed rivers through summer and early fall.

Of course, it’s a ways out to be thinking about Q2 2019, but with the increasing likelihood of an El Nino setting up this winter (see the latest ENSO discussion from 13 September), the near and longer-term trends for the Northern Rockies appears to be warmer and drier (in fact, most of the country is forecast to be warmer this winter…).

The wise fisher plans upcoming trips with an eye to the best guesses on water supply…
