A bit late this morning, but here nonetheless is the The Inside Job cocktail, shared courtesy of Ian in Reno, a full-time fly fishing guide and part-time bartender via his email.

Ian noted this is a nifty way to enjoy one’s bourbon, and while some find this one a bit sweet (he prefers it with only 1/4 ounce of simple syrup), he recently guided a group from the South that make this with Pinchaud’s bitters to offset the sweetness of simply syrup (similar to a Sazerac).

Thanks for sharing Ian…

2 ounces good bourbon
1/4 to 1/2 ounce simple syrup
1/4 ounce Luxardo maraschino liqueur
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 dash Absinthe

Garnish: Cherry, Orange slice or twist

Combine the five ingredients in a mixing glass, add ice, and stir well.

Strain into an (Old Fashioned) glass with fresh ice; garnish and go to it.

Enjoy.
