The good folks over at Legends of the Fly are getting ready for their Third Annual Legends of the Fly Tournament, will all monies raised going to benefit Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.
Candidly, for years I’ve cast a skeptical eye toward fishing tournaments, in large part based on childhood exposures to catch and kill tourneys hosted in years back on the Texas Coast. Granted, that was a different day to be sure, and events today like the Legends of the Fly Tournament, which are lock, stock, and barrel catch and release, photo-documented affairs, with tournament proceeds benefitting a damned-worthy organization like PHWFF, put an entirely new spin on the tournament game.
The Legends event, coming up 13 October, just looks damned fun.
