Yep, it’s indeed Tuesday, and we’re moving things around this week as today is National Tequila Day, worthy of mention during these dog days as we’re all muddling through the back half of summer (most of our compadres are pining away for cool fall days, replete with fall hatches, less pressure on favored waters, and the late summer into fall hunting seasons).
This Spicy Paloma is one that friend EH from South Padre sent up several weeks ago, and I’m headed to the store for some fresh grapefruit as soon as this is posted (yesterday morning actually).
Take a break from the heat, the news, the summer crowds, and your schedule today and salute those brave souls working hard in the tequila world to craft these fine spirits.
One and a half parts good tequila
3/4 part fresh rudy red grapefruit juice
3/4 part fresh lime juice
1/2 part simple or agave syrup
Jalapeno slices
Quartered grapefruitGarnish: Grapefruit slices
In your trusty shaker gently muddle 1/4 grapefruit and 4-5 jalapeno slices; add ice and the remaining ingredients, shake, shake, shake.
Strain into a (rocks) glass over clean ice, garnish, and go to it.
Happy National Tequila Day.
Cheers.
