Loon’s Tying Tips

Kudos to the good folks at Loon for consistently advocating for both the art and science of tying flies. Here’s their latest volley. Well done.

Update on the Madison River Recreation Plan

The Montana FWP (Fish, Wildlife, and Parks) Commission met back on 14 June to conduct a damned full agenda of business; included was a discussion of the Madison River Recreation Plan, an issue we’d reported on here (including a well-deserved poke at the Madison River Foundation’s position on the plan at that time).

The options presented to the Commission on the 14th are outlined here, you can listen to an audio link of the pertinent meeting discussion here, and here’s a Bozeman Daily Chronicle article detailing the outcome – a 4-0 vote to begin a “negotiated rulemaking” process to craft regulations for the river.

Once again notable for their opposition to this process stands the Madison River Foundation; a fine organization digging in their heels on the wrong side of the fence here.

Montana DEQ Says No to Dirty Miners

Thankfully, mining polluters are less and less welcome under the Big Sky; read more here.
