I was at an event this past weekend in Dallas and a guy walked up and asked if I’d ever met “Angry Rita”.
Turns out Angry Rita is a cocktail loosely from the margarita family based on Angry Orchard’s crisp apple hard cider; the guy was sort of annoying, so I never ended up getting his name or where he sourced The Angry Rita, though I have to admit the recipe does sound inviting on these summer-is-here-too-danged-early days of late.
I’ve been buried alive the past few days and running like crazy, so haven’t stirred this one together, but it’s on the list…
4 ounces good apple hard cider (Angry Orchard’s Crisp Apple as shared with me)
1 ounce good blanco tequila
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce grenadine
Dash of angostura bittersGarnish: Lime wheel
Into your trusty cocktail shaker go the tequila, lime juice, grenadine, and bitters; now shake, shake, shake. Pour into a (rocks) glass over ice, top with the hard cider, stir once, and garnish.
Enjoy.
