MontanaFlyFishingMagMar18CovforCWGreg Lewis’ Spring 2018 Edition of the Montana Fly Fishing Magazine dropped a few days ago; I’m ashamed to admit it’s been so damned busy around our camp for the past week I didn’t see it until yesterday when a friend emailed and asked if I’d read the piece on the Yellowstone River fish kills of 2016 and 2017. Read it yourself here – click on the magazine image that pops in the link and the full copy opens.

Though I’d heard some rumors of a much deeper story, the details posted in the article were some of the most stunning news I’ve personally heard in the outdoor world in a bit, given how divergent from the official story the deeper narrative appears to run.

Kudos to Greg for taking the time to dig into a story that the “professional media” should have looked into years ago, and well as Montana’s FWP, and organization we’ve long supported and praised here.

I’ve not personally reviewed all the collateral data that’s available (though I hope to do so), but it’s difficult at this juncture to not question whether or not the best available science (and scientists) have been tapped to address the issues that arose with the PKD events in 2016/2017 on the Yellowstone.

Help Get to the Bottom of the PKD Outbreak on the Yellowstone

To that end, Greg is part of a team organizing a petition drive to –

Montana Fly Fishing Magazine will be presenting this petition and a formal proposal to FWP to fund a Yellowstone Bryozoan-Mapping Project, slated for July 2018.
