In a quiet little town in the foothills of North Carolina’s “mountain country” an icon passed quietly this morning – Billy Graham.
A country boy who by accounts grew up dreaming of being a professional baseball player went on to influence millions around the world for good, fishing a bit along the way, as well as being one of the earliest and most outspoken champions of desegregation and battling long-entrenched racism for years, often at a steep personal and professional cost (though it will be fascinating to see if that is remembered in today’s climate).
Advisor to thousands, from the halls of political power to boardrooms and lowly kitchen tables, Graham was also a prolific author and inveterate encourager.
Rest in peace.
