This Heated Affair cocktail from Abigail in Fairbanks looks pretty interesting; she wrote…
…We spent the holidays with my husband’s brother in Boulder and they had a surprisingly fun open house between Christmas and New Years. Bother-in-law spit-roasted a pig (wow that was good) and they served all sorts of Southern-inspired sides (hunting guide hubby and brother-in-law grew up in Athens, GA) and over the top desserts.
Bourbon was poured freely in grand Southern tradition, but my favorite beverage was this warm tequila and spiced cider cocktail (The Heated Affair). It’s neither complicated nor highbrow, though seems like you guys are tequila fans and we thought you might enjoy this one…
Thanks Abigail, these are on the list for the weekend, along with a smoked pork shoulder (your brother-in-law would be proud). Cheers.
2 ounces good anejo tequila
6 ounces hot spiced apple cider
Heavy creamGarnish: Cinnamon stick, freshly grated nutmeg
Pre-warm your glass (think Irish coffee glass here).
Add the tequila and hot cider to the glass, give it a quick stir, and float a tbsp or two of the heavy cream on top.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick, some freshly grated nutmeg, and go to it.
Enjoy.
