Mention National Bloody Mary Day and in come a bevy of impressive looking Bloody Mary variations, including this one from Brian in Oregon – the Bloody Hell Bloody Mary.

His mention of crispy bacon strips (twists if you’re really going uptown) got our attention, though his insistence that this spice combination “will make you never want to sip another insipid, watered-down, stale, dog-assed bloody mary again” meant that it had to go on the sample soon list.

He was right about the cocktail, and we’re impressed with his adjective choices. Well played.

2 tbsp fresh-squeezed lemon juice
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp horseradish (prepared)
1/4 tsp celery seed
1/4 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1/4 tsp good salt
16 ounces (2 cups) tomato juice
4-6 ounces vodka (try bacon infused vodka for this one too)

Rim your glasses
Lime wedges
2 tbsp Bacon Salt

Garnish: Crispy bacon strips or twists, more lime wedges

Combine the first seven ingredients, mix well, then stir in the tomato juice and vodka. Set in the fridge for at least an hour until ready to serve.

Rim your glasses (4) if so inclined, fill them with ice, then fill with the stirred mix. Garnish and go to it.

Enjoy.
