California has faced drought, heavy water draws for agriculture, and development in and around some of its most important salmon and trout streams. Nonetheless, some salmon strongholds remain intact in the state. These form an important foundation for salmon recovery and rallying points for people who care about salmon and their role in ecosystems, jobs, and recreation. By driving resources into strongholds in California, we can restore wild salmon populations to health and abundance.
