Talking with Jake about the amount of snow held in the high snowpack last week, we were both somewhat amazed in particular at the numbers showing across Wyoming, southern Idaho, the Flathead, and even way down south in northern Utah and Colorado.
The final volume and temperature of water flowing in our beloved rivers during the warm months of summer depend on a complex amalgamation of a host of factors, though the water volume sitting stored in the snowpack at the start of summer is a critical one.
Long-range forecasts, as often as not about as accurate as predicting where the ball will drop on the roulette wheel, certainly look encouraging for the Northern Rockies in terms of the three-month outlook for temps and precipitation.
