Saturday afternoon a big box arrived from Skyhorse Publishing with a load of review books and giveaway copies we’ll be sharing with our Chi Wulff friends over the next month or so. There’s some really good stuff in the box, including one of the most anticipated fly tying books to come out in a while; we’ll be presenting new books and opening new drawings on Sundays…

First Up – Trout Tips

TroutTips350forCWI don’t know about you, but I love picking the brains of folks that are very good at something – it doesn’t really what they’re genuinely good at – but folks who have that little something extra have figured out an angle you and I (perhaps) haven’t yet, and more often than not, they’re willing to share (at least a part of) what makes the magic.

Trout Tips is a collection of insights, tips, tricks, off-beat savvy, and maybe even some conventional wisdom compiled from 250 staff and members of Trout Unlimited; it’s been handily edited by Kirk Deeter.

I’ve had the good fortune to have been throwing flies at various fishy critters now for 33 years, and in the first ten pages of the book I stumbled over an insight that will change the way I approach small freestones from here on out.

This isn’t a book you’ll read through, cover to cover, over the next three nights – it’s one you’ll pick through over time, as it’s a collection of thoughts presented in very digestible bites. Heck, reading just one tip a day will provide over 8 months of trouty entertainment.

Fire an email here with Trout Tips in the subject line and a working mailing address with your contact information – we’ll do the first drawing Friday morning the 9th, entries must be received by 0700 (CDT) on the 9th. (We’re not compiling a mailing list / database – the contest entries will be deleted immediately upon drawing a winner on Friday.)

DRAWING CLOSED – confirming winner address on the morning of 9 June; the next book give away will open on Sunday the 11th.
