There are advantages to being frequent fliers at your local Tex Mex place.

Occasionally you catch the team in good spirits and they throw a bone your way – or one of these Tequila El Diablo cocktails we had served up on the house during our (more or less) weekly swing by the restaurant the week before.

We’ve posted another El Diablo here, and it’s damned tasty, though She Who Must Be Obeyed thought this one much better. Considering the minor wrestling match we fought to see who finished the first one, I’d have to agree.

Easy as pie and nothing too fancy in terms of ingredients make it even better. Isn’t good ginger beer a marvelous thing?

3 ounces reposado tequila
1 ounce lime juice
1 ounce Creme de Cassis
6-7 ounces good ginger beer

Garnish: Lime wedge, even a fresh blackberry if you have some on hand

Fill your trusty shaker with ice, and add the tequila, lime juice and Creme de Cassis and shake, shake, shake.

Fill two (Collins) glasses with fresh ice, strain the shaken mix in, and top with the ginger beer.

Garnish and go to it.

Enjoy.
