This one has been in the queue for a while now, sent over a few months ago from chef compadre Libby in Austin; when I saw it pop up in Liquor.com’s email list this week, that was sure enough a sign from above that it was time to post it.
We’re long time fans of a good Mule, and this gin based version – The Gin Gin Mule – sounds danged intriguing with the fresh lime, a nice gin and the mint angle.
It doesn’t take a whole lot of imagination to conjure up an image of a pitcher of these in the drift boat come the next warm, “summer’s just around” the corner day.
Long live the Mule.
1 and 1/2 ounces dry gin
1 ounce simple syrup
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
8 mint leaves, whole, use the big ones, chopped
2 ounces good ginger beerGarnish: Mint Sprig
Muddle the lime juice, mint leaves and simply syrup, add the gin and ice; shake well.
Strain into a tall (highball) glass, top with the ginger beer, and garnish with that sprig of mint.
Enjoy.
