You still have time to get your bid in on this nifty little fundraiser for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing – the web auction of a bottle of Buffalo Trace OFC 192 Bourbon Whiskey. From the PHWFF posting –
The most state-of-the-art distillery of its era featured copper fermentation vats, column stills, and a first-of-its-kind steam heating system, still used in the Buffalo Trace aging warehouses today. This very rare and collectible bourbon honors the O.F.C. Distillery, a National Historic Landmark known today as Buffalo Trace Distillery. Each hand-cut crystal bottle is vintage dated according to the specific year in which the bourbon was distilled. Enjoy this whiskey of a bygone era, sourced from barrels of yesteryear, while simultaneously providing injured and disabled veterans the support they need on their journeys to recovery.
All proceeds will go towards supporting the thousands of injured and disabled veterans served each year by Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.
The auction ends 28 February 2017 at 11PM.
Buffalo Trace Distillery is a well-known Kentucky legend, proudly holding the title of the oldest continuously operating distillery in the nation (yep, they ran during the infamous “Prohibition” days distilling fine spirits for medicinal purposes).
Bottles are a rare find, even with the relatively recent release of 200 bottles to charities around the country to aid in fund-raising. Only 50 bottles of the 1982 have been released, in their trademark hand cut and engraved, lead-free crystal bottles.
My bourbon aficionados claim this is roughly a $10,000 bottle, and these guys appear to agree.
Git ‘er done.
