The good folks over at the Wild Steelhead Coalition have published a nifty monograph – Catch and Release Impacts on Wild Steelhead – and conscientious fishers intent on minimizing their CnR impacts on any and all species of fish they handle will find the 10 minutes or so it takes to read well worth your time.
The data cited (nice to see some real science referenced) includes information about several other species, notably Atlantic Salmon and Rainbows for the troutists among us.
One of the take home points (my words, not theirs): Screw your out of the water hero shots on social media.
