Ah, the holiday season is soon to be upon us.
We truly love the holiday season around our camp, even as things tend to get crazy as we, just like you, fight everyday to balance work, family, and prime time outdoor seasonal activities as well as plan for gatherings with friends and family.
Those entertaining large crowds during the holidays upcoming, perhaps particularly if said crowds will include intruding hostile lazy visiting relatives, might want to consider serving easy to prepare libations to help ease the angst of the mob invading your living room.
I’m not sure where SWMBO sourced this one, but she’s already pulled it out and marked it for Thanksgiving day pregame at our place. As written the recipe makes 8 adult beverages and can easily be remixed to keep the hounds at bay.
For the hard cider fans among us (count us in that group) this one is damned tasty, easy as pie to stir together, a proven crowd pleaser, and won’t break the bank.
32 ounces dry hard cider
12 ounces fresh apple cider
4 ounces rye whiskey
2 ounces Aperol
2 ounces fresh lemon juice
Chilled club sodaGarnish: Apple slices
Combine the hard cider, fresh apple cider, rye whiskey, Aperol and lemon juice in a pitcher; stir to combine.
To serve, pour 3/4 cup into an ice filled rocks glass and top with club soda. Stir gently and garnish with an apple slice or two.
Cheers and enjoy.
