The closer we get to the election, the more I agree with friends who insist that an adult beverage now and again, along with turning off your damned news portals, makes the fall days pass more peacefully.

Chi Wulff compadre Les in Denver suggests a visit with The Godfather may even be helpful…

…I don’t think I remember you guys posting this one before. By all means not for your top tier bourbon or scotch, we were first served one of these a few weeks ago at party for my wife’s office.

The husband of her friend hosting the party went around all night trying to impress everyone with his Vito, Michael and Luca imitations and handed everyone who walked in the door one of these cocktails.

It’s surprisingly easy sipper, though I was more intrigued than I should admit with the large round ice spheres he’d prepared for the party. A couple of these and nobody seemed to mind his imitations; his Luca sucked but his Vito was right on the money, though I’ve warned my wife if I had to take him fishing for the day his last imitation will be that of Fredo.

I can see downing a couple more of these before the next debate…

And never, ever forget: “Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.”

2 ounces blended bourbon or scotch
1/4 ounce Amaretto

Pour the bourbon or scotch along with the Amaretto into a mixing glass filled with ice; stir until well chilled.

Strain into a rocks glass with ice (use that rockin’ round ice mold you’ve got tucked away).

Enjoy.
