Another collaborative effort resulting in a short tribute to native Bull Trout. An officially threatened species, they are under constant assault from industry, resource extraction, mainstream river dewatering, poaching, invasive species, dams and climate change. Bull Trout require not only a healthy, but intact, river system to survive. They exist today in less than 50 percent of their original habitat. Bull Trout are a critical indicator species and signify a healthy eco-system.

We spent a few days documenting Bull Trout during their late summer migration from the large mainstream rivers to their cooler spawning grounds in small tributaries. Fascinating watching these large apex predators in these tiny headwater creeks.
