NFBB20Mar_McGlothlin_El_Pescador_V2Leaving today for a shoot in the South Pacific (40 hours of travel… party hearty), with the promises of monster GTs, milkfish, and other adventures on the other end. Ready to land and get to work! With this shoot coming up, I’ve had two people in past week make touch and ask, “How the hell do you pack for something like that?” The short answer is 90% gear, 10% personal effects. Clothing usually is rinsed at the end of the day and worn time and time again. Camera gear… no room for shortage there.

If you’ve ever wondered how the hell professional photographers pack for a trip, how we prioritize what to shoot once on location, how we work underwater, and why we’re often out shooting stars while everyone is having post-dinner drinks, I’ve got something for you to look at.

I’m working with renowned fishing photographers Bryan Gregson and Jim Klug to put together Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventure’s first On-the-Water Photography Workshop. We’re heading down to Belize’s El Pescador Lodge October 22-28, for six days of instruction, shooting, and fishing, and we’d like you to come along.

You can read the full details here, but here’s the short version:

Who Should Attend:
Everyone! Whether you just purchased your first camera and are wondering what all those buttons are for, or you’re a seasoned amateur to intermediate photographer wanting to make the most of your fishing and travel photography, this workshop will advance your skill level and improve your photos in the field. With three working professional photographers instructing, we’re able (and happy) to teach and accommodate photographers of any skill level. The diversity of instruction and a curriculum designed specifically for outdoor, travel and fishing photography, this workshop will help you to “up your game” and make the most of your future fishing trips.

NFBB20Mar_McGlothlin_El_Pescador_V1I was able to stay at El Pescador a few years ago with Orvis for a fashion shoot (ironic), and was able to stay a day extra to log a bit of fishing, and the neighboring flats didn’t disappoint. This is a great opportunity for new and experienced photographers — and anglers — to up their photography game. Always wishing you could get better shots of your fishing days? Want to bring home beautiful travel images to show friends and family? Wondering how he hell we get these underwater shots of fish? Come along and learn! This promises to be a fun, action-packed week.

I’ll be gone until the 30th on a shoot and off the grid, so if this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please give Yellow Dog a call (888-777-5060). I’m more than happy to answer questions and chat; please email me here and I’ll get back to you once I’m back in-country.

Hope to see some of you in Belize!
