As we all March into spring, and with St. Patrick’s day just one week away (from today), I’ve been digging around for some appropriately themed adult beverages to help us one and all celebrate the season.
Around our camp we’ve finally awoken to the magic that is cold-brewed coffee; it’s insanely easy to make and keep, standing dutifully by to salve your coffee cravings. Cold-brewed coffee plays so well in so many adult beverages (and non-adulterated beverages) and recipes, we’ve yet to tap it’s full potential but are working on it weekly.
This Dublin Iced Coffee puts a very nice spin on the traditional Irish coffee and shouldn’t require a run for anything too exotic, considering the popularity of stout in March in particular.
Pour the cream in slowly for a very nice effect…
2 ounces potent cold-brewed coffee
2 ounces of a potent stout
1 and 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey
3/4 ounce simple syrup
1/2 ounce heavy creamGarnish: Cinnamon, freshly grated from stick
Pour coffee, stout, whiskey and the simple syrup into a tall glass (highball glass); add ice to fill it.
Carefully pour in the cream around the top of the glass so it sinks artfully into the coffee.
Sprinkle with freshly grated cinnamon.
Enjoy.
