Another holiday libation this week courtesy of Amy in Boise –
My husband and I just had this punch over the weekend at a party one of his fishing buds hosted (and to watch a football game). I don’t know how many recipes of this Holiday Rum Cider Punch his wife and I ended up making, must have been 4 or 5 for the crowd that day.
This smells heavenly warming on the stove with the apple, maple and rum combination; it tastes even better. The punch was great with finger foods and the chili they served, along with a huge batch of the Southwestern Chicken Wings from you guys.
This one is too easy and too good not to share…
Thanks Amy, on our list for the holidays, and I was just wondering how it would keep in a preheated thermos on a winter river outing…
2 cups rum
1 cup maple simple syrup
1 cup fresh lemon juice
2 cups fresh apple cider
1 lb. package fresh cranberries
Angostura bitters
Dash of cinnamon
Mix everything but the bitters in a saucepan, warm over medium heat, stirring well.
When warm, add the washed cranberries.
Now ladle into warmed glasses directly from the pan or transfer to a punchbowl and serve.
Add a dash or two of Angostura Bitters to each punch cup at serving and if inclined top with a dash of cinnamon.
Enjoy.
