Another one from former work colleague and friend Steve S. in Salt Lake City.

…I’m surprised you guys haven’t already run this one in your holiday rotation. The classic Tom and Jerry is one of those holiday season cocktails that was a mainstay at my parents annual Christmas party and is still going strong years later. We just had a couple at a swanky hospital affair here in Salt Lake a few days ago.

A very Merry Christmas to you guys this year and damn the SJWs…

Some classics never go out of style.

1 ounce Cognac
1 ounce Dark Rum
1 tbsp. Tom and Jerry batter
Whole Milk, hot
Boiling water

Garnishes
2 parts freshly ground nutmeg
1 part ground clove
1 part ground allspice

Tom and Jerry Batter
12 eggs, separated
1 tsp cream of tartar
2 pounds granulated sugar
2 ounces Dark Rum
1 tsp vanilla

Batter up. Whip the egg whites with the cream of tartar in a non-reactive bowl until stiff. Separately beat the egg yolks with the sugar, rum and vanilla until completely liquid, then fold into the egg whites.

Preheat serving mugs with the boiling water; dump before mixing the cocktail.

Mix it up. Add the batter, cognac, dark rum to the mug, top with hot milk and garnish.

Enjoy.
