Oregon Close to Adding Molalla and Chetco Rivers to Scenic Waterways Program

From the Oregonian last week (23 Nov) –

Addition of parts of the Molalla and Chetco rivers to the Oregon Scenic Waterways Program passed a final hurdle and now await approval by Gov. Kate Brown to become the 21st and 22nd rivers in the system.

The Oregon Scenic Waterways Program was created in 1970 to protect, but also to use wisely, the resources of designated rivers and lakes. The program is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, which must be notified and then approve the cutting of trees, mining, construction of roads, railroads, utilities, buildings or other structures within a quarter mile of a designated river.
