It’s been one of those weeks. Been fighting off a flu, which means all my writing has been done through a haze and I’m proofreading like mad in the hope it all at least makes a bit of sense. I spent nearly an hour today struggling through a paragraph for an upcoming article before just saying “screw it” before writing stream-of-consciousness and at least getting something on the page. Tomorrow I’ll wade through and salvage / rewrite / edit ad nauseam. It happens.

Took some time to teach two new friends to cast this week. My housemates have expressed some curiosity about this odd “fly-fishing thing” that seems to be a veritable black hole on my side of the house right now. We grabbed the two household Border Collies, my old five-weight, and headed down to a neighborhood park. The bouncier of the two dogs proceeded to provide an excellent moving target, and both housemates seemed to pick up the basics surprisingly quickly.

They still shake their heads, though, when conversations trend to what went on in everyone’s day and I fill them in on the latest industry gossip. I shake my head too sometimes.

Not much to report on they fishing front; hoping water temps will continue to drop, we’ll get some cloud cover, and this coming week might bring some good opportunities to get back on the water.
