One of the true joys about helping run Chi Wulff has been meeting and interacting with people from all over the country (hell, from all over the world for that matter). Recognizing that there are folks on every continent who love fly fishing as much as we (you) do is both comforting and vision-expanding at the same time.
It’s also been a great way to get a handle on a bevy of nifty adult beverage and food recipes over the years; here’s another fine offering from guide PK in Florida.
…I know you guys have spent some time in the South and understand at least part of the cultural obsession surrounding sweet tea. My girlfriend pushed me to a party for her work earlier in the summer and they served this Sweet Tea Summer Punch. The lemon juice cuts the sweetness of the cranberry (use the real stuff) and the flavored vodka just works; it played surprisingly well with the pork butt sandwices (I believe you’d say hot damn) we ate all afternoon.
I have two good friends guiding on the Missouri and know that it’s fall up there, but there’s 6 or 8 weeks of summer still to come here. There’s still time to enjoy this one.
We agree – there’s still plenty of porch and campfire sitting yet to come this fall season.
4 cups cranberry juice
2 cups sweet tea flavored vodka
1 cup fresh lemon juice
2 12-oz. cans your favorite lemon-lime soft drink
8-10 cups of ice
Stir together the cranberry juice, vodka, and lemon juice into one of your larger pitchers. Stir in 8 cups of ice cubes, top with the soft drink and gently stir it in. Add more ice as needed and start pouring.
Enjoy.
