The Labors of Labor Day

Whatever your chosen labor might be, however many hours and days and years and heart and blood, sweat and tears you pour into it, Happy Labor Day.  Today is a day to celebrate the working people so we raise a glass to you.  But I would especially like to say let’s celebrate all of those who don’t work regular 9-5 Monday through Friday hours.  Those who work extra hours, long weekends, are on call, and more often than not end up working on holidays.

I’m currently writing this from the fly shop in between getting guided trips out for the morning.  For everyone that gets days like Labor Day off to have fun, there’s someone else clocking in to make sure you have a good time.  They could be a fishing guide, waitress, nurse (my girlfriend drew the short straw and has been on call the entire weekend), or even a lowly fly shop worker.

Regardless of what you’re doing today, enjoy.  Be safe and have fun.  Catch a fish for me.
