Today’s Thirsty Thursday tasty adult beverage was sent over by an old friend we haven’t heard from in a while.

He, Missouri River Steve, once worked in a position we all admired greatly, that being a hard-working Montana fly fishing guide based on the Missouri, though occasionally venturing off to fish the Big Hole and Blackfoot when the mood and scheduling struck just so.

As has happened to a lot of people in the industry, some damned fine people in fact, Steve fell upon hard times – sadly mostly self-induced, dropped out of his guiding gig, lost his girlfriend and his dog, finally sliding down into a quagmire that he’s been unable to extricate himself from.

What happened to Missouri River Steve?

Steve went back and finished law school, passed the bar and joined a busy law practice. He’s never quite been the same since.

He did say this Mayan Mule (here dubbed the MRS Mayan Mule for in his honor) helps ease the pain and guilt of his new city-bound existence, though he longs for those crisp (soon to be September mornings) on the Missouri.

We feel your pain my friend.

2 ounces tequila
½ ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
3 ounces ginger beer
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Garnish: Lime wheel and mint sprigs

Drop three ice cubes in a Collins glass; now add the lime juice, tequila, ginger beer and bitters.

Give it a stir, garnish, and enjoy.
