Escaped the computer last weekend to head out in search of carp on New York’s nearby Hoosick River.

Beau, owner of Vermont Paddleboard Outfitters, had suggested we go explore an area where the river flattened out and got skinny—perfect terrain to stalk the spooky fish via stand-up paddle board.

While the fish were less than cooperative, we got into a couple healthy-looking carp and enjoyed a bit of (all too rare) Northeastern sunshine before the clouds rolled in.

I was impressed with the Live Watersports catamaran-style SUPs—stable enough for me to feel comfortable leaving the Pelican case unlatched while we cruised along. The board handled nicely, was quick and easy to set up, and pretty damn fun to paddle.
