The great summer adult beverage recommendations keep pouring (no pun intended) in.

Today’s comes from Susie B. in northern NY state –

…this is one of our favorites for the summer, my husband thinks the guys at Prime Meats in Brooklyn may have come up with this Porch Crawler recipe. The combination of flavors is surprisingly refreshing and now that cherries are in you have to try this one. We know you guys like peppers too!

We’re a couple of fly fishers from Colorado who moved up and over here when transferred by my husbands company; while it’s not northern Rockies freestone fishing there some fine fishing to be had around the area. I do miss the native western cutties!

Thanks for keeping us in touch with friends back home in the West. We both have fished with and love Guide Jim, is he still over in China?…

Susie, the recipe sounds great and fresh cherries are on the list today; wouldn’t this be great with fresh Flathead cherries? And as to Guide Jim, we haven’t heard from him in a bit and his email inbox in Berlin is full – he must still be in China…

5 pitted fresh cherries
1/2 of hot chile (serrano or jalapeno), seeded
3 mint leaves
Ice
2 ounces white rum
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 ounce simple syrup
2 ounces chilled club soda

Garnish: pitted cherry and mint sprig

Muddle the 5 cherries, the pepper half and mint leaves in a shaker.

Add the ice, rum, lemon juice and simple syrup; shake well.

Strain into ice-filled glass, stir in the 2 ounces chilled club soda and add the garnishes.

Enjoy.
