Things are getting busier around town and the shop these days. The warm spring has pushed a lot of tourists from the ski slopes to the rivers. We sure don’t mind, a busy March is nothing to complain about. And after a winter of locals and more die hard fishing types, it’s kind of entertaining to have more non fishermen in the shop.
Sadly I wasn’t there was this one, but the conversation that went down was something like this:
Customer 1: I thought this was a fly fishing shop. What is this stuff? *points at Ice Dub on the wall*
Customer 2: Oh, that’s for ice fishing. I don’t know why it’s in here.
In their defense, they had no clue what the hell Ice Dub is. But you would think that in a fly fishing shop, on a wall with all kinds of fly tying material, they would have inferred from context that it had something to do with fly fishing. An honest mistake but still one we had to chuckle over.
It’s going to be a busy season. And you just never know what you are going to hear in a fly shop…
