The List

A New Year is full of possibilities. Everyone is full of new resolutions, ideas, hopes and dreams for the coming year. So often though, most of those are long dead and forgotten in a pretty short time. It takes discipline to stick with it.

One of the things I’ve been thinking about is what fishing goals I want to accomplish this year. There is a serious wealth of water in Southwest Montana, and fortunately lots of places and species that most people just overlook. Here’s a couple of things I’ve been thinking about doing in 2015:

  • Salmonflies on the Upper Madison
  • Smallmouth on the fly on the Lower Yellowstone
  • Carp on the Lower Missouri
  • Pike at Location X
  • Golden Trout in any number of high mountain lakes
  • Fluvial grayling
  • 24 inch trout on a dry on the Missouri
  • Lots and lots of creek fishing at places that shall remain unnamed
  • Green drakes on the Henry’s Fork
  • 24 inch trout on the swing, on a fly I tied and designed

The year is full of possibilities. Make the most of it.
