Orvis is rolling out their Down the Hatch Film Festival 8 October in Atlanta (Terminal West within the King Plow Arts Center); portion of proceeds to benefit Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.
Here’s where it gets interesting: Pre-purchased ticket-holders score a $25 Orvis gift card (not a bad return on a $20 ticket); pre-party 6:30-7:30 free food and beer (several film festival attendees I’ve observed in other locations easily down 25 bucks in beer before halftime), free swag, with a raffle for lots of goodies and several guided trips. The grand prize winner scores a commemorative Helios 2 with the Sweetwater Brewing Company logo.
[An honest-to-God disclosure: Two of our team now work for Orvis; Fire Girl Jess is a copywriter at HQ scratching out web, catalogue and media asset copy and otherwise dodging bullets in Vermont and She Who Must Be Obeyed (my lovely wife) now manages the Orvis retail store in Birmingham.
I wasn’t paid a damn thing to post this, though probably should have been. She Who Must Be Obeyed and I are hoping to drive over, catch the show and meet some of our Georgia Chi Wulff compadres in the flesh at the event. See you at the food bar if we’re still invited…]
