DamNation is one of the most celebrated environmental documentaries of the year. In 90 minutes, this cutting-edge documentary discusses the United States’ conquest of its rivers and the more recent trend of removing dams to set those rivers free. The film has been recognized at film festivals around the globe and has a particular focus on the Columbia River basin where dams have driven wild salmon, including Idaho’s salmon, to the brink of extinction.

In March, the international Waterkeeper Alliance approved the Snake River Waterkeeper. F.S “Buck” Ryan, III, the newly appointed Waterkeeper, is working to protect and preserve the Snake River Basin and surrounding waterways by combining his firsthand knowledge of the waterway and legal experience with an unwavering commitment to the rights of communities and citizens of Idaho and Wyoming.

“Waterkeeper Alliance is thrilled to have Buck Ryan as the eyes, ears, and voice for this vital watershed,” said Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Waterkeeper Alliance President. “The theft of our public waters by polluters,” said Mr. Kennedy, “is not acceptable. Buck is the right leader to fight for clean water in the Snake River region.”

“Snake River Waterkeeper’s aim,” said Mr. Ryan, “is to advocate for clean water to improve the quality of life for all citizens of Idaho and Wyoming. The river is a vital resource for drinking water, recreation, biological health, wildlife and tourism. Learn more here.
