Here’s the second part of our recent interview with Frogman Outdoors; if you missed Part One read it here.

You’re looking at 15 trips a year right now… how do you see that growing in the years to come?

We are hoping to conduct 15 trips in 2015 if we can raise the funds required. In the future we would love to conduct trips in other locations in FL and, if feasible, other locations in the USA. Our idea would be to link up with other guides who would be interested in donating trips to participants through our foundation. In keeping with our motto, we would try to ensure a member of FMO is also on the trip.

Sounds like some trips could be fly fishing, some conventional tackle, and maybe some just hanging out on the water. What are the determining factors—is it the wounded warrior’s choice?

We plan to talk with each individual prior to their trip to get a feel for what their fishing experience is and to see what kind of fishing they would like to do. We are currently set up to conduct light tackle conventional fishing for multiple species as we believe this will provide our participants the best opportunity for catching fish. Steve is an avid fly fisherman so eventually we would like to add fly fishing as part of our trips. We could accommodate that if the veteran requested it and was physically able.

The logo is pretty awesome; will you explain the significance?

VC_FMOLOGOOur logo encompasses Freddy the Frog on a fishing boat. Freddy the Frog represents the heritage of the modern SEAL Team. Freddy the Frog was created as the mascot for the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) post War World II. Both the SEAL and UDT members were called Frogmen for their work in the water, which persists to this day.

Okay, gentlemen. You can take a fishing trip anywhere on the globe, chasing any species. Where do you go?

My dream trip would be to trailer a boat up and down the East Coast fishing the Striper Migration.

How can Chi Wulff readers best help support the project?

Currently we are looking for tax deductible donations to help fund our trips but welcome any ideas on fundraising, running our trips, or just spreading the word about Frogman Outdoors.

Thanks to the gentlemen at Frogman for the time they took to crank out answers—it’s much appreciated! Be sure to follow the Frogman Outdoors website, no doubt awesome things are sure to come.

From Mark: Couldn’t agree more – sounds like a killer idea and we strongly encourage our fishy brethren around to the country to carve out some time, gear or cash to help these guys get off to a great start. Donate here.

We’re in.
